Catfish, Energy of Life and Destiny, Fortune Favors the SHY

Welcome to the first issue of Decks from the Digital Web! Here, I'll be trying out some decks I found on Marvelcdb, and sharing my experience with you! The focus will be on newer decks that I truly love and think you should check out.

This time, I've been playing a couple of decks from NewfieLad. They've made a lot of really neat decks, so I'm always interested to see what they come up with next. And the third one that I've been playing this week is the new Gambit deck by VJackson. Check them out!

I've played a few different Shuri decks at this point.  Most of them include the Dora Milaje cards, but I often find it difficult to build out her core kit and all of this other stuff at the same time.  So I thought I'd see if it would work better in Pool, since its got triple resources to really turbo charge her economy on the first turn. Before I built my own deck,  I decided to check marvelcdb first to see if anyone else had the same idea. Saw that NewfieLad had already posted a deck, which I was happy to see!

Key cards: Dora Milaje set, triple resources, Stick-to-itivness, Tic-Tac-Toe

The triple resources cards just let her set up the Dora Milaje so much faster. It really is just that simple. In my last game, I had ALL OF THIS set up on turn 2!

And its not all just about the resources. Tic-Tac-Toe is so good here! Having healing available whenever you need it lets you activate the Dora Milaje allies or T'Challa more often. It also helps keep Shuri's health up (along with Healing Factor and Queen Ramonda) to maintain the triple resources.

The last key Pool card is Stick-To-Itivness, which is obviously great for Shuri. More readying means more activations of her Black Panther upgrades. It's not the easiest thing to trigger, with how few physical resources this deck has, but that's why the Quincarrier + Build Support combo is here. That works well enough for me.

The basic cards take advantage of the Pool resources to quickly build a very strong card draw engine. At first, I wasn't too sure about the single copy of tenacity, but in practice it has helped me push for victory multiple times!

If you want a Shuri Black Panther deck that really just focuses in on getting the most out of her Black Panther cards and the Dora Milaje, give this a shot!

Ready for a Fight (RFAF) is a card that is so good for just so many heroes. I stumbled across this SP/dr deck and thought "SP//dr wasn't my first choice, but you know what? That sounds pretty good!" With 14 HP, she does not mind blocking (or face tanking) some extra hits with RFAF. And what does she get for flipping down to alter ego? Getting that 4 hand size (hey, its better than 3!), along with the +2 by exhausting the suit, is something you want as often as possible. Especially early on when you are trying to get all of her interfaces out. Every time you flip down, you also get a FREE heal, since the Peni Parker alter ego is an entirely separate card from the SP//dr suit. This means that you can always recover without worrying about needing your hero activation. By flipping often, this deck lets you build out quickly and also keep SP//dr healthy all game.

Add in 2 classic archetypes to the mix with Web Warriors and Repurpose, and it all comes together so well. It's been a while since I played SP/dr, and it was really great to get her back to the table!

You might already have heard of this deck, but have you actually played it yet? Seriously, you need to. This is one of the most fun decks I've ever played. If you are unaware, the whole point here is to try to build up Gambit's defense super high to potentially one shot a villain with "Stop Hitting Yourself". Why this is such a big deal for Gambit is because Natural Agility, which buffs his Def, is uncapped. So you can easily get his defense above 10 with just one of them. I was hitting for 15-20 damage whenever I played  "Stop Hitting Yourself" +  Natural Agility, and both of these cards can be stacked with multiple copies. Playing 2 copies of Natural Agility means you could easily get over 20 Def, while each copy of  "Stop Hitting Yourself" can be played one after another within the same defense window. So if you got up to 20 Def, you can then do 2 separate attacks of 20 damage each.

This is also a Change of Fortune deck, which further adds to the pure fun of it all. Usually, you'll be able to trigger it for card draw off of a minion attacking you, but it also triggers off of defeating the first villain stage. In one of my games vs Black Widow I was able to block her attack, use "Stop Hitting Yourself", defeating her stage II, triggering Change of Fortune, which then let me draw into another "Stop Hitting Yourself" which I then was able to play within that same timing window, hitting Stage III! ...unfortunately, I immediately lost to advance right after! Learn from my mistake, be very careful about flipping Black Widow to Stage III during the villain phase...

So there you go, 3 awesome decks for you to check out. If you liked this deck spotlight, or if you've tried these decks, let me know!
